In a recent issue, The Diamondback recognizes Monarch Preschool College Park for bringing affordable child care to College Park. With limited child care options in the area, tuition rates for local preschools are steep and out of reach for many in the University of Maryland community. The Diamondback mentions how prices at the campus child care center prompted more than 350 people to petition the university for affordable child care.

Parents in College Park have long been asking for more child care options. Monarch Preschool College Park meets that need, offering a value-driven price point that delivers on quality. The preschool is open year-round with a full-day program and flexible two-day, three-day, and five-day options along with before and after care. It is conveniently located in the College Park United Methodist Church at 9606 50th Ave. The preschool is not religiously affiliated with the church and welcomes families of all backgrounds and beliefs.

The Diamondback interviews Josefina de Campos Salles, the parent of a five-year-old enrolled in Monarch Preschool College Park. Campos Salles has a background in early childhood and elementary education and is pleased with Monarch’s project-based curriculum. Most importantly, she is happy to see her son excited to go to school. He never wanted to go to the preschool he previously attended, so it was impressive that within the first week at Monarch there were no tears at drop-off.
